In this episode of The Talking DLD Podcast we’re catching up with Professor Suze Leitão from Curtin University and the Engage with DLD teams. Suze and collaborators have recently published a research paper titled: “They don’t realise how hard he has to try every day”: The rewards and challenges of parenting a child with developmental language disorder. Tune in as we unpack this important body of work and explore its impact on clinical practice and advocacy.
about Professor Suze Leitão
I have worked for many years as a speech pathology clinician and researcher with children experiencing difficulties with oral language and literacy. My work focuses on understanding risk factors, developing and evaluating interventions, and developing programmes to support and promote mental health for children and young people with a focus on Developmental Language Disorder.
I currently hold a position as Professor in Speech Pathology at Curtin University where I teach, supervise and carry out research.
My research group: Language and Literacy in Young People is internationally recognised as one of the leading programmes of paediatric research in the areas of language, literacy and mental health, with impact on both research and on clinical practice – something we are very proud of, see: https://languageandliteracyinyoungpeople.com/
