What is it like to love and support an adult with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)?

In this heartfelt episode of The Talking DLD Podcast, Georgia shares her unique perspective as both a paediatric Speech and Language Therapist and the wife of an adult with DLD. She reflects on how she recognised the signs that led to her husband Joel’s diagnosis, the strengths and qualities he brings to their relationship, and how understanding DLD has shaped their lives together.

Whether you’re a partner, family member, friend, clinician or an adult with DLD yourself, this conversation offers practical insights, reassurance and real-world advice on building strong relationships, improving communication and supporting adults with DLD to thrive.

About Georgia Roskin

Georgia is a paediatric Speech and Language Therapist based in London, with a particular interest in supporting children under five who may later receive a diagnosis of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). She brings both professional and personal insight to this topic: her husband, Joel, received a DLD diagnosis in December 2023 and appeared on The Talking DLD podcast in July 2025. In this episode, Georgia reflects on the impact of DLD from the dual perspective of a clinician and a spouse.

Georgia coordinates Early Language Support for Every Child (ELSEC) across North Central London – a government‑funded programme designed to improve early identification and support for children with speech, language, and communication needs.
